Songs of the First World War – a Medley

This arrangement is a through-composed medley of some of the more popular songs of The Great War; ‘Good-byee,’ ‘Pack Up Your Troubles,’ ‘Hush! Here Comes a Whizzbang,’ ‘And When They Asked Us,’ concluding with a finale reprise of the opening number. In a way I first met these when playing them in 1979 as part of Beauchamp College’s ‘O What A Lovely War.’ I may be wrong but the famous photo below of the smiling troops with their helmets in the air is Great-Uncle Ralph’s battalion, the 2/8th Worcestershires.
