Leysland High School, Countesthorpe

Having gained my PGCE at Roehampton I.H.E. in 1986, my first job was Dance and English teacher at Leysland High School, Countersthorpe, Leicestershire.

As well as teaching dance classes to the whole school I was the choreographer for the termly whole year musicals. To see the photos please click HERE.

After a few terms, I started to book workshops from dance and drama companies such as Rambert, Kokuma and LCDT and my job soon became Theatre Arts Programmer. My best memory is booking the Jiving Lindyhoppers for all-day workshops with the junior schools followed by an evening show - click HERE to see the photos….

It was here that I expanded my 12-minute work theatre piece on Scott Joplin into a 90-minute show called ‘Great Scott - It’s Joplin!’
